It was the week of Seth's birthday in our department, and that meant it was time to have a departmental birthday lunch. For our previous birthday lunch we had ordered delivery from the Hi-Pointe Drive-In (since it was about 100 degrees that day) but since this time the weather was much nicer we decided we could walk, so Seth picked Bobo Noodle House on Skinker (where we had ordered delivery 3 years ago.) It is located right next door to 'Zza Pizza and Salad which we visited just a few months back, so we knew exactly where it was. Even though it was a lovely day, I convinced Robert and Stacey to cut through the Engineering buildings with me since that is what I always do when going to the Metrolink station. I tried to convince them to also take the Metrolink underpass to get to the other corner, but they did not go for that. (More on that later...)
When we arrived at Bobo slightly before noon it was pretty empty and we placed out orders at the front. Both Marcia and I ordered the beef and green beans with udon noodles, but she did not want her peanuts. So I asked the order lady if I could have Marcia's peanuts and she agreed! I know two people ordered the mussels and a couple other people ordered the curried chicken noodle dish I had ordered before. We sat in the back where they had pushed some tables together for our group of seven.
We did not have to wait very long until they brought the food for everyone. The serving sizes are pretty generous, but I noticed Marcia was the only person who brought back some of her noodles for another day. The rest of us had no problem eating those large portions! They were all very good, and my beef and noodles were very flavorful with plenty of fresh, crispy green beans to go with it. The beef was very tender and not fatty, and the sauce had a hint of heat without being too strong. The people with the mussels enjoyed opening them up, although they were a bit messy, and it was nice of Bobo to give each of them an extra dish for the shells. The service was good with someone coming by to refill our drinks a few times.
The only downside was the price which was a little over $14 for mine with water for my beverage, so with my tip it ended up at $17. That was a bit pricey for a lunch, but if I was not such a glutton, I could have easily made it two meals and it would not have seemed so expensive.
On the way back I convinced Robert to take the underpass and then we cut through the Engineering buildings to get back to Scott Rudolph Hall. It was a good, filling lunch, even if it did cost a bit. With the construction and parking situation, it is still nice to have other options that we can get to easily for a group lunch. We can always go back to 'Zza again too!

Value if I eat like a pig
Value if I split it into two meals like I should
