Whittemore House at Washington University - The Sequel

Our department had just recently visited the Whittemore House when it first reopened on April 8, but since it was so close by and it was the last day of class (and it was someone's birthday too!), we decided to visit there on Friday, April 26, 2013. They seated us at exactly the same table, but this time it was much more crowded and we could tell we had to speak up a bit more to talk to one another. They still had the baskets of tasty, spicy flat bread on the table, and we finished off three baskets of it before they served us, and they could tell we were a hungry bunch.

There was a weird mix up where some of the menus listed different daily specials than the others so we had to ask what the real specials were of the day. Three of us (including myself) picked the Capicola sandwich with the Seafood Chowder mainly because we were curious what in the world capicola was! It turned out to be some cured beef, but boy was that half sandwich tiny, and so was the cup of chowder. We had to look pretty hard to find the seafood in the seafood chowder but it still tasted pretty good. We noticed that someone else in our group ordered a bowl of the chowder and he had a lot more seafood!

That same co-worker also ordered an open faced steak sandwich which he ordered medium but came back closer to rare or medium-rare. That actually worked out well for my benefit since I like my beef rarer and I was able to help him eat it along with a few of his fries (which were much better than the hour old soggy ones from Cicero's.) I actually preferred his steak sandwich to my capicola sandwich, but "capicola" is much more fun to say!
