St. Patrick's Day Lunch & Dinner at Samuel Church in Clayton - March 17, 2018

It is that time of the year again to start thinking about St. Patrick's Day, and that means the annual St. Patrick's Day lunch and dinner to benefit Habitat for Humanity at Samuel United Church of Christ in Clayton (320 North Forsyth Blvd.) This year St. Patrick's Day falls on a Saturday so our meals with be on the actual holiday to make it more festive. Once again we are serving professionally prepared Irish Lamb Stew with soda bread at lunch (11:30 am - 1:30 pm) and Irish Corned Beef with cabbage, potatoes and soda bread at dinner time (4:30 - 7:30 pm) from the Kern Meat Company. Last year I was only there for dinner, but this time I will probably be there for both meals, so I can get to taste the Lamb Stew which was supposedly extremely delicious last year. In 2017 I both served food and helped serve out beverages at dinner. Who knows what I will be doing to help out at this year's festivities.

I know the corned beef was pretty incredible so I will be excited to try both of them on the same day. Plus there is the endless homemade dessert table in the back which I know is being run with meticulous precision this year, full of creative and tantalizing delights to end the meal.

The dinner is $15 this year for adults (instead of $10) and lunch is still $10, but ALL of that is going to the local St. Louis Habitat for Humanity. Our church is not receiving a dime of what you pay. All the desserts are hand crafted and paid by our church friends and members, the food donated by the Kern Meat Company and the labor by friends and members of Samuel Church. When you pay $15 for a ticket, $15 of it is going to Habitat for Humanity. You get a delicious professionally prepared meal, including fabulous homemade desserts, and Habitat receives all the proceeds. The charge for children 12 and under remains $5 for either meal, so a family of four with two chiildren 12 or under will pay $40 for dinner and $30 for lunch which is pretty reasonable considering that is everything (no tax, no tip, no cleanup.)

Our church members do all the setup and cleanup, so just show up hungry ready to enjoy some delicious food. Then you can go out to a nearby Clayton area establishment and celebrate St. Patrick's Day with beverages stronger than our non-alcoholic assortment since we are not allowed to serve alcohol at our church. J. McGraugh's and Molly Darcys are both less than a mile from our church so you can visit them in a few minutes after your meal and continue your St. Patrick's Day Celebrations. Have a great St. Patrick's Day and help a good cause at the same time. Contact the church office for more information or tickets at 314-727-9540 or e-mail secretary@samuelucc.org

You can also just show up at the church on Saturday for either lunch or dinner and we will gladly serve you some delicious Irish food. The weather forecast looks cool and cloudy on Saturday, with no precipitation. And now it will still be light outside until past 7:00 pm. Show up for a wonderful St. Patrick's Day meal in Clayton as Samuel United Church of Christ!
