St. Patrick's Corned Beef Dinner, Irish Stew Lunch - Clayton, March 11, 2017

Yum, look at that corned beef!

This posting is more of a shameless advertisement instead of a restaurant review. On Saturday, March 11, 2017,  there will be a special (pre) St. Patrick's Day lunch (11:30am-1:30pm) and dinner (4:00pm-7:00pm) at Samuel United Church of Christ in Clayton. All proceeds from ticket sales will go to Habitat for Humanity. The meals are being generously provided and professionally prepared by the Kern Meat Company. The menu is for Irish stew and soda bread for lunch, and corned beef with cabbage and potatoes for dinner. Homemade desserts and personal service will be provided by the members and friends of Samuel UCC. I will be there myself that afternoon/evening wearing green and helping out, as well as eating some delicious corned beef, cabbage and potatoes myself (and we cannot forget the scrumptious desserts!)

The complete meal only costs $10.00 for adults and children over 12, and $5.00 for children 3 to 5. Remember, that entrance price includes everything, so it is a rather affordable professionally prepared meal for any household. To properly prepare for the proper quantities of food needed we are trying to sell tickets in advance so we know what to expect. Last year about 250 people were served despite only selling about 100 tickets in advance. We would like to be better prepared this time. We will be allowing people to pay and arrive at the door, but would prefer a better sense for attendance this year. Please call the church office at 314-727-9540 or e-mail secretary@samuelucc.org to reserve your meals in advance so you can help Habitat for Humanity and enjoy a delicious meal for yourself and your friends and family. Come celebrate an early St. Patrick's Day at Samuel United Church of Christ in Clayton with some delicious meat, sides and dessert. I know there will be some Bailey's Irish Cream Cheesecake at dinner and I am going to hopefully eat a slice! Compare that $10 for a complete meal for an adult PLUS cheesecake to those $7 slices of cheesecake at the Cheescake Factory.

  1. It was the first time I had ever eaten corned beef and it was actually pretty good! And I heard that the lamb stew was phenomenal. Put it on your calendar for next year!
