Jilly's Cafe and Cupcake Bar - Visited October 2016

After a fun morning outing at the St. Louis Zoo, we decided to stop somewhere for lunch afterwards and we decided to eat at Jilly's. Since it was Sunday we thought they would be having brunch, but they informed us they only have Sunday Brunch on specific Sundays, so we would just have to select something off their lunch menu. My wife decided on the Jilly's Club, I ordered the Three Pigs and we decided to split the Turtle Cheesecake cupcake for dessert. However, after we sat down with our drinks and our cupcake, we decided to eat the cupcake as an appetizer instead. That way we would know for sure we would have room for it! The cupcake was rich and delicious as expected, although we both agreed the Chocolate Thunder would have been better.

After we finished our cupcake appetizer our sandwiches arrived. They were both pretty large sandwiches served with a pile of chips. My three pigs was pretty greasy and tall at the same time. The three meats (ham, pulled pork and bacon) were okay but not all that flavorful, and there was not much sauce to go with the meat. The chips were nothing special either. The bread on the sandwiches was not overly impressive, especially since they are a bakery. My wife also thought her sandwich was okay but nothing too special. At least the cupcakes there are good! We were appalled when we realized the girl at the table sitting next to us had ordered a carrot cake cupcake. Who goes to Jilly's and orders a carrot cupcake??
