After a pleasant Sunday church service we decided to go eat on the Delmar Loop, so we ended up at Blueberry Hill. Despite not being big fans of the infamous Loop Trolley, we decided to eat at Joe Edwards' iconic establishment for lunch. After being seated at a booth we perused their menu and I decided to go with a Reuben sandwich although the others both ordered the burger. The wait was not too long on a not so busy Sunday lunch and our food arrived in a timely manner.
The first thing I noticed was that the chips that came with my Reuben looked like plain Ruffle's chips and were not very impressive. The Reuben was not bad, but there was not much sauerkraut and it did not compare to the one from Carl's Deli which was much more loaded and had much juicier corned beef. My wife noticed that the blue cheese she asked for on her burger did not melt and it would have been better with melted gorgonzola. The fries that came with the burgers were okay, but nothing special.
All in all the food was okay, but nothing spectacular. It is still a popular hangout and a fun place to be when they have live music, but you definitely do not go there just for the food.
