Wonton King, Visited July 2016

After visiting a church on Sunday, we decided to go visit a Chinese restaurant for Dim Sum since my picky son who claims not to like Asian food was not with us. Having eaten at Wei Hong, about a year ago, we decided to visit Wonton King which many people seem to like more, although we know it is not as roomy.

Having left the church around 11am, we were lucky to make it to Wonton King right around 11:30am and we were able to grab the very last empty table, right by the door. It was better than having to wait for a table, but as more people arrived and stood by the door we ended up being on display as other folks waited.

Once we were seated it did not take long for a cart to make it over to us, and that first cart had just about everything we wanted, shrimp dumplings, shrimp with tofu, sticky rice, and steamed pork buns. Another cart came by later with radish cakes and then later a dessert cart came by with some sesame seed balls (although the center had something fruity and not red bean paste). All the food tasted very fresh and was more appetizing than what we had at Wei Hong. The carts kept coming around but we were pretty full and done eating in less than half an hour. With a fairly substantial crowd building and waiting while we ate, we knew we were not supposed to linger so we got up in line to pay and leave. By the time just one group in front of us had paid, our old table was ready for new customers and they were sitting down ready to eat.

So if you are looking for some place with nice atmosphere, plenty of elbow room and a relaxed ambiance to dine, Wonton King is not the place for you! If you want good dim sum with fresh, tasty selections and a quick, efficient meal, come to Wonton King for a fast, reasonably priced meal where you are packed like cattle at a feeding trough. Sometimes that is all you want!

Food quality, efficiency
