While we were waiting for my son's piano recital to begin we tried to decide where to eat dinner afterwards. Since my eldest had a smartphone they looked up nearby restaurants and noted the Syberg's was quite close to the Steinway Piano Gallery where the recital was being held. We had heard of them before and had never been there, so this seemed like a good opportunity to try them out since we were in the Maryland Heights area.
The restaurant is located next to a Hampton Inn hotel and the interior is pretty large. There were HDTV's mounted everywhere and despite there being a ton of cars in their parking lot, we were seated right away since the place was so enormous. We were seated in a large booth with very hard wooden seats. We looked around and all the seats were hard and wooden which are not so comfortable. The menu was pretty extensive with "bar and grill" items, and there were quite a few options to try. My daughter and mother-in-law both had the provel chicken sandwich, my wife ordered the turkey club, my son selected the Syberg's quesadilla and I picked the cajun chicken philly. I ordered mine with a side of buffalo chips whereas my daughter ordered chips and everyone else went with the fries.
The food did not take too long to arrive, although my sandwich did not arrive with the others, but my buffalo chips did. The chips were thick fried wedges of potato with a flavorful but not too hot mix of spices sprinkled all over them. They were cooked pretty well and were quite good. I tried some of the fries and they were just plain old bar type fries, not bad but nothing exceptional. As for all the sandwiches, they were pretty much the same, not too bad but nothing that exciting either. My eldest thought the chicken on their sandwich was a bit fatty, and my wife thought the croissant selected for her club sandwich was a terrible choice since it could not absorb any liquid, making it a wet, sloppy mess. My son's quesadilla did not seem to have much stuff inside of them and were rather lackluster as well. As for my cajun chicken sandwich, it was also okay, but nothing overly compelling.
Our server, Alexis, had an honest attitude we appreciated, but her service was also just average. We visited the restrooms, which are located all the way near the front door, and they were reasonable clean and well maintained, and I, for one, do like the Xlerator hand dryers. So overall the experience was not bad, but not overly memorable either.

Did you consider ordering the shark bites?
ReplyDeleteWe saw them on the menu but they did not sound appetizing to us.
