Camille's Sidewalk Cafe, Brentwood - Visited Sept 2014

One of favorite closeby places to go for a quick, inexpensive lunch is Camille's Sidewalk Cafe on Strassner. We decided to go there today as my son's pick and as usual the place was virtually empty on Saturday before noon. I decided upon the Quesadilla Wrap which I have had before and have always enjoyed. My wife and son each ordered the Camille's Club and my mother-in-law ordered the Chicken Salad. The sandwiches and tortilla chips were good as always, with my mother-in-law even enjoying her chicken salad sandwich (she often is not so impressed with food as different places.)  My wife did have two comments to share on the facility.

The first comment regarded the beverages. She was happy to see they had plenty of unsweetened tea, but the only sweeteners they had available was a bunch of pink carcinogen packets and five packets of Splenda (she took three of them.)

Her other concern regarded the women's restroom. First off, it was a "onesie" but the door had a lock that did not lock! So if you were inside with the door shut there was no way to stop anyone else from coming in while it was "occupied". Secondly there was a pink toilet ring in the toilet which appeared to have been there for a while. It should not have taken much effort for someone to clean the toilet, especially on such a dead time as Saturday when nobody was there.

These details aside we still enjoy visiting Camille's where the food is always good quality and well prepared, the dining room is usually kept quite clean and they always just play normal local pop radio as background music. It is nothing fancy, but it is different from being just another Panera and it is never so crowded either.
