Schlafly's Bottleworks - Visited May 2012

The last time we wanted to visit Schlafly's Bottleworks in Maplewood had been on a Saturday in January. Unfortunately that just happened to be one of the days they were having their winter Farmer's Market which means the place was packed. So now that the Farmer's Markets are held weekly on Wednesday afternoons, we knew it was safe to go back to the restaurant for one of our Saturday lunches!

This time the restaurant was not so crowded (see interior via Google StreetView) and we were seated by a window near the outside garden. We noticed the menu had changed (no bison stroganoff), but there were still plenty of choices. The others in my group all wanted to enjoy a bison burger, but myself being the weirdo that I am always wanted something different, so I went with the Chipotle Black Bean burger which came with a side of tortilla chips. I also inherited a side of slaw from my mother-in-law's bison burger since she said she did not want it. The burgers were all quite good and we had a very pleasant meal there. Our waiter for the day was extremely attentive, and we wondered if it was his first day since he was always stopping by asking how everything was and he was exceedingly cheerful and very pleasant. Either that or he was running for office!

Overall we were very pleased that we now know when we can visit Schlafly's Bottleworks for Saturday lunch and not run into a huge crowd. The winter Farmer's Markets are on the last Saturdays of the month from November through March, so we know not to go there then if we just want to eat lunch!
